Arctic Physical Therapy Services, Inc. (APTS) was founded in 1995. It is an independently owned outpatient clinic that treats a variety of conditions including sports/orthopedic injuries, neurological rehabilitation, work-related injuries, geriatric, pediatrics, and women's health. APTS has a new facility located in downtown Kodiak overlooking St. Paul Harbor. The bright, spacious clinic has a pleasant reception area, four treatment rooms and a large gym. Quality patient care is priority in our clinic amid a caring and supportive environment. We bill all major insurance companies including Medicare, Medicaid, and worker's compensation.
Kodiak Island is located southwest of Anchorage in the Gulf of Alaska and has a population of 15,000. Kodiak is about an hour from Anchorage by air or a 10-12 hour ferry ride from the mainland. The city of Kodiak is on the coastline nestled between the ocean and the island's mountainous interior. Therefore, Kodiak offers many wonderful opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast including mountain climbing, boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and camping. In addition to our regular services, APTS has a work hardening program that focuses on industrial rehabilitation. This program enables the patient to perform specific exercises and functional tasks that relate directly to their job. These work-specific exercises facilitate a faster recovery and help a patient return to work quickly. APTS offers a free Senior Exercise Class once weekly for those that are 55 years and older. Emphasis is placed on increasing strength, balance and enhancing overall conditioning
APTS is very active in the community by annually sponsoring the Soap Box Derby, Kodiak Football League, and Kodiak High School Cross Country and Volleyball teams. We also provide side-line assistance for injuries during all Kodiak Football League games. Lectures concerning injury prevention and increasing overall health are given throughout the year to Kodiak employers and community groups at no cost.
